Student Activities Office (M-105)
Located in the Student & Culinary Arts Center (Bldg. M on the main campus), the Student Activities Office (SAO) organizes and oversees student clubs and activities at HFC. The staff assists students with club formation, event planning, fund-raising ideas, and the promotion of events.
Student activities complement formal classroom instruction and enhance the overall educational experience by helping students develop leadership skills, communication skills, organizational techniques, as well as an increased understanding of self and others.
There are more than 35 student clubs on campus. See the current list of student clubs here.
Want to start a club that isn't offered? Contact the SAO for club requirements and guidelines.
The Student Bulletin is an SAO publication that informs the HFC community about current events, student clubs, and volunteer opportunities. For information, contact Michele Featherston, editor of the Student Bulletin, at 313-845-9865 or email@example.com.
The SAO provides on campus Voter’s Registration and conducts Voter’s Registration Drives. Forms are available at the SAO, the Welcome Center (Bldg. WC), the Office of Financial Aid (Bldg. WC), and the Registrar’s Office (Bldg. WC). The SAO provides the service of mailing completed Voter’s Registration forms to the respective city election clerks.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
The SAO coordinates volunteer activities to commemorate the birthday of legendary civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Students, faculty, and staff members are encouraged to participate. Various activities include renovation, educational, and social projects. This is a day of community service, education, and reflection.
Special Events and Activities
The SAO works with students, faculty, and staff to plan and implement special events and activities at the College. These events and activities provide socialization, educational information, and promote involvement at HFC.
The SAO provides information on volunteer activities, on-campus as well as in the community. Many worthwhile opportunities are available.
