Breastfeeding / Lactating Mothers

HFC provides a supportive environment for breastfeeding/lactating mothers on campus. Mothers who wish to breastfeed their children and/or wish to express/pump breast milk may do so in any of HFC's three lactation centers. For more information visit our breastfeeding/lactating mothers page.

Gender Inclusive Restrooms

Students, staff, and visitors to Henry Ford College’s campuses have access to gender-inclusive restrooms. These restrooms may be used by anyone, regardless of sex, gender identity or expression. They are also suitable as family restrooms for parents with young children.

Food and Housing

Campus Dining

The Student and Culinary Arts Center is home to a wide variety of dining options for students. Visit the Skylight Cafe for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack between classes, or stop by the Fifty-One O One Restaurant for a full-service dining experience.

Hawks' Nest Food Pantry

The Hawks’ Nest food pantry provides supplemental food assistance to Henry Ford College students. Please consider a donation to help keep the Hawks' Nest food pantry stocked!

Henry Ford College does not provide on-campus housing. However, there are many housing options near our campuses, including private apartments and commercial properties. We have provided a few options here, but students should feel free to investigate all types of housing to find the most suitable options.

The Union at Dearborn offers apartments for students within a 10-minute walk of the HFC campus. The apartments are furnished, offer several floor plans, and include utilities. Also included are a fitness center, yoga room, computer lab, marketplace, basketball court, and study lounges. The Union comprises primarily students from UM-Dearborn and Henry Ford College, and is a short walk from the HFC campus. Parking is provided, and there is a safe crosswalk across Evergreen Road from the UM-Dearborn campus. HFC students can walk through the UM-D campus to Henry Ford College.

Academic Support

Learning Lab

The Learning Lab offers a wide variety of services to help HFC students succeed in their classes. If you need tutoring, test preparation, audio-visual study aides, or computer-assisted learning, stop by the Learning Lab in the Learning Success Center today!


The Eshleman Library provides a wide range of services to students and faculty. Library staff are available to provide individual reference assistance as well as group tours and instruction. Located in the south half of the Learning Resources Center, the library offers access to an extensive collection of books, online databases and electronic journals.

Arts, Culture, Supplies, and Merchandise

College Store

The HFC College Store is your place for official HFC textbooks, gear, and supplies. Buy or sell new and used textbooks, find official HFC gear, as well as purchase software, notebooks, and gifts online or in person at the College Store (C).


Come see a show at HFC's Hammond Planetarium! The facility's dome and projector technology provides an entrancing view of the material, and the seating is ample and comfortable. The Planetarium is located on the upper level of the Science Building.

Sisson Art Gallery

Stop by the Sisson Art Gallery to see excellent student and professional artwork. The gallery offers professional and student exhibitions for student, faculty, staff, and public viewing throughout the year. The gallery is located in the Mackenzie Fine Arts Center.

Health and Fitness

Gateway Trail

Take a walk down the Rouge River Gateway Trail and enjoy the beauty of nature! The trail offers plenty of woodland scenery and runs for two miles across the UofM-Dearborn and HFC campuses, crossing the Rouge River twice along the way.

Smoke Free Campus

On January 1, 2012, Henry Ford College became smoke free at all campus locations. HFC joined hundreds of colleges and universities across the nation that have taken this important step.

Student Fitness Center

Take advantage of the HFC Fitness Center to enhance your health and fitness. Drop in between classes or before you go home for the day. The Fitness Center is on the main campus in the Athletic Memorial Building, and is free for all HFC students.
