Access to resources for the HFC community
Access to essential resources is a key part of student and employee success at HFC. We want to make you aware of College resources and local resources that can help you throughout the year, especially as federal benefits programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) might not be issuing funds to people who normally rely on them.
The most critical matters for some members of our community are food and basic needs. Here are some resources that might be of help to you.
Hawks’ Nest student food pantry
Located on the first floor of the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services & Conference (ASCC) (Building L on the main campus), the Hawks’ Nest (Room L-138) is a food pantry that provides supplemental food assistance to HFC students. Any student registered for at least one credit hour at HFC is eligible to access the Hawks’ Nest. No other documentation is required.
Students may access the food pantry up to twice per month.
For questions or more information about the Hawks’ Nest, contact 313-317-6529 or hawksnest@hawkmail.hfcc.edu.

External health, wellness, and personal resources
To better support those we serve, we have also developed a robust referral website that contains dozens of local community resources. These include items such as:
- financial assistance
- food
- clothing
- housing
- transportation
- health care
- child care
- counseling and mental health
- additional resources
Note: HFC provides links to external resources solely as an informational service to our community. We do not endorse or partner with these external organizations. We cannot provide referrals or any services related to these organizations. We encourage you to ask questions and make sure the support services are right for you.
As a Welcoming College, all of us at HFC are here to support your success. If you have a need that is not listed in the sections above or for questions or more information:

- Employees should reach out to Human Resources at 313-845-9820 or hr@hfcc.edu.
