Alayna Kondraciuk promoted to Admissions Recruiter - On-Campus
During the summer, lifelong Hawk Alayna Kondraciuk was promoted from Admissions Associate to Admissions Recruiter - On Campus at HFC.
“There was a need for an on-campus recruiter. I’m really excited about my new role,” said Kondraciuk. “There is some crossover from my old job to my new job, which was one element that intrigued me about this position. I’m excited to come up with new events and partnerships, and figure out what works and what needs improvement.”
HFC Admissions Recruiter Angie Church, who is also new to HFC, called Kondraciuk an “amazing team member.” She has helped make Church’s transition at the College as smooth as possible.
“Alayna is knowledgeable, patient, and thorough,” said Church. “Every time I ask Alayna for support, she is willing to jump in and help guide me through the steps needed to both solve the problem and grow my own independence. I was fortunate to attend one of the group tours she hosted, and I was drawn in as soon as she started welcoming students. She has a knack for personalizing each event. I am happy to get the opportunity to work alongside her and excited to see how she will develop the on-campus recruiting role at HFC.”
An integral team member
Kondraciuk reports to Director of Admissions and Recruiting Niko Kanagawa. Her duties include:
- Defining strategy and deliverables for major on-campus events, such as Discover Day and the Partners Breakfast.
- Conceiving different on-campus recruiting efforts, strategies, and partnerships.
- Reimagining group and individual tours for potential students, with a specific focus on engaging some of the College's top feeder schools.
- Providing training and day-to-day leadership for student ambassadors, who lead tours and support the Admissions and Recruiting team.
- Using data to help improve on-campus events better.
- Recruiting students from virtual high schools to attend HFC.
- Growing on-campus partnerships, including with academic units, to better engage the College community and provide additional opportunities for students.
- Provide admissions support and troubleshooting as needed.
“Since my arrival in Admissions and Recruiting in July, Alayna has been an integral part of everything that happens in this office,” said Kanagawa. “I'm excited to support her professional growth as our on-campus recruiter, where she'll have an opportunity to refine and help reimagine how HFC is inviting and engaging the community.”
“I’m proud to be a Hawk”
The eldest of two daughters, Kondraciuk is a lifelong Flat Rock resident. Her parents are HFC Assistant Director, ITS Application Services Jerry Kondraciuk and HFC Assistant Director of Enrollment Services, Assessment, and Orientation Nikole Ford-Kondraciuk. Her father is also a graduate of HFC and would bring her to work with him when she was a child.
“I got to know the people and the campus well,” said Kondraciuk. “I’ve been a Hawk my whole life. I’m proud to be a Hawk.”
It was natural for Kondraciuk to enroll at HFC after graduating from Flat Rock Community High School. As a student at HFC, she was a member of:
- The Henry Ford II Honors Program
- The HFC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Alpha Xi Mu
- The Ironic Femmes (a pun on the Periodic Table abbreviation for the element iron)
Kondraciuk was a Mellon Fellow and a success coordinator through HFC’s Transfer Bridges to the Humanities@Michigan program. She was also a member of a team of HFC students named by the National Science Foundation and the American Association of Community Colleges as one of 12 finalists in the 2023 Community College Innovation Challenge.
From supply chain to logistics technology
Kondraciuk earned the following from HFC:
- An associate degree in supply chain management
- An associate degree in general business
- The Michigan Transfer Agreement Certificate of Achievement
- A supply chain management technician certificate
She also is a Certified Logistics Technician through the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council. Through HFC’s 3+1 Articulation Agreement with Eastern Michigan University, Kondraciuk transferred to EMU, which she also attended on two scholarships. She earned her bachelor’s degree in technology management from EMU.
“I love working with everyone at HFC – my teammates, current students, and potential students,” said Kondraciuk. “It's a rewarding job. You get to hear and see the impact that HFC has on students' lives. It's my favorite part about working here.”
