The HFC Music Department will host its Spring Jazz Concert on Wednesday, May 1, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Adray Auditorium (Room F-100) in the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center (Building F on the main campus).

Three music ensembles will perform at this concert under the leadership of Music Instructor Anthony Lai:

  • Henry Ford Big Band
  • Studio 110 Jazz Orchestra
  • HFC Music Club Vocal Jazz Ensemble

The concert will feature classic swing, modern funk, 1960s rock, and Latin grooves, including the premiere of an arrangement of Chicago’s “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” by student Louis Tijerina.

"The collaborative spirit of the jazz groups at HFC continues in this year's Spring Jazz Concert,” said Lai. “There is an energy from the students you will most certainly feel when you see this show. Don't miss it!"

This concert marks the end of Lai’s first year leading HFC’s Music Department. He has been teaching music at HFC since 2008 and served as the director of bands for two years.

“It has been an amazing year, and I’m looking forward to next year even more as I work with many of the talented musicians here at the College,” said Lai.

This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required. For questions or more information, contact Lai at ajlai@hfcc.edu.
