Hawks softball players earn post-season awards, including Player of the Year

Several members of the HFC softball team were honored at the 2022 Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference Softball Awards, leading off with the Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.

The Player of the Year honor went to Anna Atherton, an alumna of Huron High School in New Boston. She has also been named All-MCCAA, First Team All-Conference and Division II All-Region. Earlier this season, Atherton was named the MCCAA Eastern Conference Softball Player of the Week twice.

Other players honored include:

  • Lauren Gannon: An alumna of Airport High School in Carleton, Gannon has been named All-MCCAA, First Team All-Conference and Division II All-Region.
  • Haley Zimmerman: An alumna of Elmwood High School in Bloomdale, OH, Zimmer has been named All-MCCAA, First Team All-Conference.
  • Karlee Plensdorf: An alumna of Airport High School, Plensdorf has been named Honorable All-Conference.
  • Jessica Laird: An alumna of Brighton High School, Laird has been named Honorable All-Conference.

“I can’t express how proud I am of all the hard work and effort they put into this season,” said Coach Steven Brown. “It was such a pleasure to coach these talented student athletes.”
