An image of two people studying.

With the Fall 2021 semester underway, the HFC Learning Lab – located in Rm. A-200 of the Learning Success Center (Bldg. A on the main campus) – is here to serve you with online and on-campus services.

Three highlighted services include:
* Anatomical models (appointment only)
* Computer access (appointment only) * ELI conversation partners (Teams conversations)

Anatomical models and bones - appointments only

Anatomical models will be available to students, effective Monday, Sept. 20. The hours of operations are Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.by appointment only (due to social distancing requirements, we cannot accept walk-ins).

This semester, there are five sections of BIO 233: Anatomy & Physiology I and BIO 234: Anatomy & Physiology II with in-person lab sections. These labs occur on Monday and Tuesday. The access to anatomical models has been set up to accommodate those students who are on campus those days.

Learning Lab staff will exercise social distancing. We anticipate accommodating at least eight students concurrently, allowing you to use the models for at least one hour per scheduled session.

The Learning Lab’s Bone Room is an extremely popular resource for students studying biology.

Computer access - appointments only

Computer access will be available to students beginning Tuesday, Sept. 21. Our hours of operation are Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by appointment only (due to social distancing requirements, we cannot accept walk-ins).

Students who have classes that fall on a M/W/F schedule or a T/TH will have access to the Learning Lab’s computers during our normal hours of operation on Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the Fall semester.

Learning Lab staff will anticipate a minimum of nine slots per hour, which allow for safe social distancing between students seated at computers. Students will have a minimum of one hour of access to the Learning Lab’s computers.

ELI conversation partners - via Teams

The Learning Lab, in partnership with the English Language Institute, will offer conversation partners to HFC students who are learning English as a second language. The conversation partners will be available beginning Monday, Sept. 20. Days and hours will vary with volunteers’ availability. The hours will be posted on the Learning Lab website. This resource will be online via Microsoft Teams. Originally, these took the form of in-person “conversation circles” in the Learning Lab.

Other resources

Students can request help or ask a question through this form (HFC username/password are required). We have a variety of documents to help students at the Learning Lab Sharepoint resources website (HFC username/password are required).
