Read on to learn more:

We are looking for committed students who want to make a meaningful impact at HFC by driving change and contributing to student success and campus improvements. Over the past year, we've been very active on and off campus.

On campus, the Student Council made progress on the following initiatives:

  1. Expanding STEM tutoring in the Learning Lab.
  2. Increasing food options and availability on and around the campus.
  3. Increasing the sense of community on campus through table displays, free professional headshots, CPR classes, and more.

Off campus, the Student Council made new connections:

  1. Joined the United Michigan Student Government (UMSG) and will lead efforts to unify student advocacy across Michigan.
  2. Established communication with the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor Student Government.
  3. Visited the Michigan State Capitol with HFC leadership, including HFC President David Knezek, and spoke directly to state representatives.

We've also identified possible projects to work on this academic year, which could include:

  1. Researching the installation of a soccer field/sports dome on campus.
  2. Hosting food truck setups during Ramadan.
  3. Exploring the construction of a bridge between the Library and the Learning Lab.

If these sound like projects you want to be part of — or if you have other ideas — we would like to hear from you.

Success transfers to UM and other universities

Also, here is a fun fact that might help your decision: Over the past three years, 100% of our Student Council members who applied to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor were accepted.

We cannot promise that Student Council caused that, but we do think the students who care deeply about improving their campus and community often embody the same initiative, leadership, and purpose that many universities, such as Michigan and other partner schools, value.

This year's open positions are Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Representative. If you are energetic and ready to make a positive impact at Henry Ford College, please complete the online application using the link at the top of this message. Don't wait! We need active participation as soon as possible.

Once you submit your application, you will receive an email with additional information.
