HFC welcomes Christa Coscione to Student Activities
Newcomer Christa Coscione hit the ground running when she started her new job as HFC’s Student Activities Assistant.
During her first month, she participated in her first Welcome Back Days and her first Discover Day, while learning her new position and getting to know the College.
“It’s kept me busy,” said Coscione, laughing. “There hasn’t been a dull moment.”
Creative elements of community college attracted her to HFC
An only child and lifelong Warren resident, Coscione graduated from Warren Woods Tower High School. She earned her associate degree in graphic design from Macomb Community College and her bachelor’s degree in mass communications from what is now Rochester Christian University.
Coscione worked for Wireless Vision in Bloomfield Hills and Rocket Mortgage in Detroit. She also worked as a freelance graphic designer. Prior to coming to HFC at the start of the Fall 2026 semester, Coscione worked at her alma mater, MCC.
“I like being in higher education, and I have a community college background,” she said. “The creative elements of being at a community college – the events and the communications aspect – attracted me to HFC.”
Her duties include:
- Supporting HFC’s student organizations
- Completing administrative tasks
- Assisting with events
“The student clubs at HFC are very engaged,” said Coscione. “Their leaders are very involved and take initiative. That’s fun to see.”
A valuable addition to Student Activities
Her career goal is to remain in higher education.
“I want to be in a position that serves and supports student success,” she said.
HFC Director of Student Activities Dr. Cassandra Fluker has been impressed with Coscione’s performance over such a short period of time.
“Christa is a valuable addition to Student Activities,” said Fluker. “I appreciate her thoroughness and the attention to detail that she gives to each task. Christa is responsible for administrative duties and helps keep our clubs running smoothly. She brings skills that help advance our mission of meeting students' needs.”
Like Coscione, HFC Student Activities Associate Kayli Hessbrook is also new to the College.
“It’s been great getting to know Christa and working alongside her in Student Activities,” she said. “Because we’re both new to this office and to HFC, it’s been nice to navigate this new experience together and to learn from each other along the way. I’m excited to continue working with her to see all the fun programs, events, and opportunities we will create for our students together in the future.”
