HFC celebrates Campus Pride Month in April
During Campus Pride Month, HFC will host several events, which are listed below. Please join us; everyone is welcome!
Create with Pride – crafting event on April 9
Embrace your creative side on Thursday, April 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Skylight Café lobby in the John McDonald Student and Culinary Arts Center (Building M on the main campus). At this open studio activity, you will create art with fellow students and employees. There will be materials available for your creative ideas to blossom! Sponsored by SAFE@HFC.
Pride Flag Installation on April 15
Members of the HFC Sexuality And Gender Acceptance Club (SAGA) and other volunteers will place 200 Rainbow Flags around the LED sign in the quad between the Reuther Liberal Arts Building (Building K) and the Health Science Education Center (Building G) on a later date TBD. Due to weather conditions, the public flag preparation and speeches event on Wednesday, April 15, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. will be held in the Student Club Room, M-109.
The flags will fly proudly throughout April. Sponsored by SAGA.
Rainbow Masquerade on April 17
Join your fellow students for a night of fun on Friday, April 17, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Pavilion of the McDonald Student Center! Festivities include dancing, a free dinner, dancing, a photo booth, and so much more. The theme is rainbow masquerade, so dress accordingly. All students are welcome. Sponsored by SAGA.
Lavender Celebration on April 23
HFC and the University of Michigan-Dearborn will celebrate both campuses’ LGBTQ+ students and employees and their allies at the Lavender Celebration on Thursday, April 23, from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Kochoff Hall in the James C. Renick University Center on the UM-Dearborn campus, 4901 Evergreen Rd.
We are celebrating the resiliency of this community and recognizing all those who have championed LGBTQ+ rights. We will also recognize all our graduating seniors. As part of the program, graduation cords will be given out to graduating students. Because this is a midday event, casual attire is welcome. Light refreshments will be provided. Movie Night with SAFE@HFC on April 30
Movie Night with SAFE@HFC will take place on Thursday, April 30, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Michael A. Berry Amphitheater (Room L-115) on the first floor of the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services & Conference Center (ASCC) (Building L on the main campus). The movie is TBA. Afterward, there will be a brief discussion about the movie. Popcorn and candy will be provided. All are welcome; please bring your own beverage. Hosted by SAFE@HFC.
