Fifty-One O One Restaurant opens Feb. 12

On Wednesday, Feb. 12, Fifty-One O One, Henry Ford College’s student-run restaurant, will open for the Winter 2025 semester in the John McDonald Student and Culinary Arts Center (Building M on the main campus).

The restaurant’s hours will be:

  • Tuesday: 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (lunch)
  • Wednesday: 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (lunch) and 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. (dinner)
  • Thursday: 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (lunch)

Menu

Fresh specialty salads (served with a cup of soup):

  • Winter Endive and Fruit Salad ($7.95): Michigan endive and arugula, poached pear, buttermilk mousse, spiced pumpkin croutons
  • Salad Classique ($6.95): Grilled corn bread, green beans, pickled cauliflower, red oak lettuce, herb-red wine vinaigrette, croutons
  • Warm Spinach Salad ($6.95): Spinach, wheat berries, bulgur, baby kale, broccoli rabe, ricotta salata, nasturtium
  • Beet and Blackberry Salad ($5.95): Michigan baby beets, smoked duck, hazelnut, pickled shimeji mushroom
  • Crab and Avocado Salad ($8.95): Poached shrimp and lump crab salad, citrus avocado puree

Fresh vegetables (served with a cup of soup):

  • Confit of Fairytale Eggplant ($7.95): Black garlic, yogurt, garlic chips, herbs
  • Saucisson à l’ail ($9.95): Pomme puree, pickled apple and celery salad, apple cider reduction
  • Roasted Brussels Sprouts ($7.95): Pancetta, duck confit, chestnuts, fine herbs
  • Confit Maitake Mushrooms ($7.95): Pear, cauliflower, chestnut, thyme
  • Dukkah Crusted Acorn Squash ($6.95): Toasted seeds, braised Russian kale and white bean ragout, maple chili gastric

Sandwiches (served with a cup of soup):

  • Marinated Chicken Wrap ($9.95): Roasted peppers, arugula, jack cheese, whole wheat wrap with sweet potato wedges
  • 5101 Dream Burger ($10.95): House grind, cheddar, onion jam, lettuce, patty sauce with sweet potato wedges

Neapolitan style pizzas:

  • The Emilia Classic ($7.95): Mozzarella and classic tomato sauce
  • The Peppy ($9.95): Mozzarella, pepperoni, and classic tomato sauce
  • La Diavola ($10.95): Mozzarella, Calabrian chile, nduja, soppressata, oregano
  • Mushroom Ragu ($8.95): Roasted mushrooms, arugula, truffle
  • Prosciutto ($9.95): Mozzarella, candied peanuts, scallion, Parmigiano Reggiano, garlic-shallot oil, hot honey
  • Korean BBQ ($10.95): Braised short rib, arugula, scallion, sesame-soy vinaigrette

Entrees (served with a choice of vegetable, salad, or soup before or with the meal):

  • Lamb Fillet ($17.95): Pickled chantarelle and winter greens, braised shanks, lentils Le Puy, thyme jus
  • Steamed Hake ($15.95): Preserved ginger, white beans, sprouts, caramelized cabbage butter
  • Duck Confit ($14.95): Port poached figs, Castelvetrano olive, parsnip, sherry lacquer
  • King Crab Agnolotti ($16.95): Crab-filled pasta, shrimp, fennel, uni emulsion
  • Pappardelle ($14.95): Wild boar, tomato, Parmigiano Reggiano
  • Short Rib “Pot Au Feu” ($17.95): Root vegetables, pearl onion, red wine reduction
  • Seabass ($16.95): Crispy skin, smoked garlic, red quinoa, bourbon saffron broth

The menu also includes appetizers, soups, and desserts. As the weeks progress, updated menu information will be found on the restaurant’s website. Beer and wine are available for purchase to customers age 21 and older with a valid photo ID.

Along with its 3-day-per-week services, Fifty-One O One will host special events and buffets throughout the Winter 2025 semester, including:

  • Wednesday, February 19: Shrimp & Soul Buffet
  • Wednesday, March 19: St. Patrick’s Day Buffet
  • Wednesday, April 16, to Thursday, April 17: Spring Bake Sale
  • Saturday, April 19: Scholarship Dinner

Parking is free. Please park in the Campus Safety lot or adjacent faculty lots.
