Fifty-One O One Restaurant is open for the semester

On Wednesday, January 31, Fifty-One O One, HFC’s student-run restaurant, will open for the Winter 2024 semester in the John McDonald Student & Culinary Arts Center (Building M on the main campus).

The restaurant’s hours for the Winter 2024 semester are:

  • Tuesday: 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (lunch)
  • Wednesday: 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (lunch) and 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. (dinner)
  • Thursday: 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (lunch)

5101 Menu

Fresh specialty salads (served with a cup of soup):

  • Grilled Baby Gem ($5.95): Baby romaine, sourdough croutons, Caesar dressing
  • Warm Spinach Salad ($6.95): Spinach, wheat berries, bulgur, baby kale, broccoli rabe, ricotta salata, nasturtium
  • Winter Endive and Fruit Salad ($7.95): Michigan endive and arugula, poached pear, buttermilk mousse, spiced pumpkin croutons
  • Beet and Blackberry Salad ($6.95): Michigan baby beets, smoked duck, hazelnut, pickled shimeji mushroom
  • Grilled Radish Salad ($6.95): Lemon, sunflower, tonnato, mint
  • Sunchoke and Smoked Whitefish Salad ($6.95): Roasted sunchokes, apples, almonds, spicy greens

Fresh vegetables (served with a cup of soup):

  • Roasted Cauliflower ($6.95): Roasted cauliflower, grapes, almonds, vadouvan
  • Sauteed Mushrooms ($7.95): Farro, smoked cheddar velouté, herb cream, black garlic
  • Roasted Kabocha Squash ($6.95): Red pears, parmesan, pumpkin seeds
  • Sweet Potato Mille Feuille ($6.95): Compressed Asian pear, caramelized onion au jus, creamed spinach

Sandwiches (served with a cup of soup):

  • Marinated Chicken Wrap ($8.95): Roasted peppers, arugula, jack cheese, whole wheat wrap with chili-dusted sweet potatoes
  • 5101 Dream Burger ($9.95): House grind, white cheddar, burger salt, onion jam, lettuce, mayonnaise, patty sauce with chili-dusted sweet potatoes

Neapolitan style pizzas:

  • The Emilia Classic ($5.95): Mozzarella and classic tomato sauce
  • The Peppy ($7.95): Mozzarella, pepperoni, and classic tomato sauce
  • 5101 Sausage ($8.95): Homemade Italian sausage, roasted peppers, roasted onions, classic tomato sauce
  • Mushroom Ragu ($7.95): Roasted mushrooms, arugula, truffle
  • Bacon and Squash ($7.95): Roasted squash, bacon, caramelized onion, ricotta, honey drizzle
  • Korean BBQ ($7.95): Braised short rib, arugula, scallion sesame-soy vinaigrette

Entrees (served with a choice of vegetable, salad, or soup before or with the meal):

  • Duck Confit ($13.95): White port poached plums, Castelvetrano olive, parsnip, sherry lacquer
  • Red Wine Braised Short Ribs ($14.95): Boneless 48-hour short rib, root vegetable risotto, red wine glaze
  • Roasted Lamb Filet ($14.95): Elderberry, kabocha squash, brussels sprouts, grand veneur sauce
  • Potato Ravioli ($10.95): Michigan maitake, tarragon, ricotta salata, whey
  • Steamed Pacific Halibut ($14.95): Preserved ginger, white beans, sprouts, caramelized cabbage butter
  • Sea Bass ($15.95): Heirloom carrots, fennel, cockles, vadouvan
  • Rigatoni ($12.95): Pork sausage ragu, fennel pesto, sofrito, lemon breadcrumbs

The menu also includes appetizers, soups, and desserts. As the weeks progress, updated menu information will be found on the restaurant’s website. Beer and wine are available for purchase to customers age 21 and older with a valid photo ID.

Special events

Along with its 3-day-per-week services, Fifty-One O One will host special events and buffets throughout the fall semester, including:

  • Wednesday, February 14: Shrimp and Soul Buffet
  • Wednesday, March 13: St. Patrick’s Day Buffet
  • Wednesday, March 27, to Thursday, March 28: Bake Sale
  • Saturday, April 20: Scholarship Dinner

Parking is free. When arriving, please park in the Campus Safety lot or adjacent faculty lots.
