The HFC Men’s Basketball team recently clinched first place in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Eastern Conference.

The HFC Hawks will now compete for the MCCAA Championship, hosted by HFC at the Athletic Memorial Building on the main campus Saturday, March 4 (semifinals), and Sunday, March 5.

Game time is 3:00 Sunday. Be there!

The Hawks will take on the winner of Saturday's Northern Conference vs. Western Conference game on Sunday, March 5, 3:00 p.m. at the Memorial Gymnasium (Bldg. H) on the main campus. Tickets are $10 per person at the door. Students get in free with valid ID.

How we got to this championship

The Hawks are undefeated (14-0) in the MCCAA. They have won 31 straight games against in-state community colleges over the last two years and are on an 18-game winning streak this season. The Hawks also have nine wins against Top 20 NJCAA teams across the nation.

The Hawks have proven themselves in the classroom as well as the hardwood this season. The Men’s Basketball team has a cumulative GPA of 3.03. Of the 12 members, eight earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher, according to Coach Chris Shepard.

“I’m proud of our team winning the regular season championship,” said Shepard. "It took everyone’s best effort while doing so. The team’s effort in the classroom is a point of pride too. We still have plenty of work to do to reach our main goal of a national championship.”
