Six Hawks wrestlers qualify for NJCAA Wrestling Championships
The HFC Wrestling Team competed at the National Junior College Athletic Association Great Lakes District Championships on Feb. 19, finishing fourth of the nine teams competing.
Six individual wrestlers qualified to compete at the NJCAA Wrestling Championships, which will be held March 4-5 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, IA. These Hawks are:
- Sophomore Jake Campbell, a Roosevelt High School alumnus, weighing in at 133 lbs.
- Freshman Cage Dye, a Bedford High School alumnus, weighing in at 197 lbs.
- Sophomore Elijah Kidder, a Royal Oak High School alumnus, weighing in at 149 lbs.
- Freshman Jager Kwiatkowski, a Franklin High School alumnus, weighing in at 141 lbs.
- Freshman Vaughn Petty, a Chippewa Valley High School alumnus, weighing in at 174 lbs.
- Sophomore Diante Taylor, a Center Line High School alumnus, weighing in at 184 lbs.
“Our Hawks battled through a tougher than normal regional with the addition of two new teams,” said HFC wrestling coach Grant MacKenzie. “These wrestlers will remember their experience at the NJCAA Championships for the rest of their lives.”
