DOE will present at Pre-Education Teacher Certification Conference March 25

HFC is hosting a Pre-Education Teacher Certification Conference: “Standard and Band Changes” via Zoom on Friday, March 25, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Representatives from the Michigan Department of Education will describe changes to the teacher certification bands and standards. Representatives from Wayne State University and Eastern Michigan University will discuss their teacher preparation programs and support services as transfer pathways. Representatives from HFC will be available for general information and to arrange advising appointments.

The schedule is for this free conference is:

  • 9:00 to 9:05 a.m.: HFC Pre-Education Program Director Dr. Carolyn Casale will give the introduction.
  • 9:05 to 9:20 a.m.: HFC Interim Dean of the School of Health and Human Services Dr. Cynthia Scheuer will speak.
  • 9:20 to 9:40 a.m.: Dr. Gina Garner of the MDE will speak.
  • 9:40 to 10:00 a.m.: Dr. Ahlam Bazzi Moughania of the MDE will speak.
  • 10:00 to 10:10 a.m.: HFC mathematics professor Dr. Deborah Zopf will speak.
  • 10:10 to 10:30 a.m.: Representatives from Wayne State will speak.
  • 10:30 to 10:50 a.m.: Representatives from EMU will speak.
  • 10:50 to 11:00 a.m.: HFC Academic Advisor Sherry Clippert-deVogel and HFC Student Success Navigator Chari Milai will be available to make advising appointments.
  • 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.: Closing remarks.

We highly recommended this conference if you are interested in pursuing a career in education. This seminar is open to education majors and classroom teachers.
