T he annual Women's Recognition Luncheon will be held in a virtual format (Zoom) this year on March 18 at noon (music begins 11:45 a.m.). This is the event’s 47th year.

This year’s theme, “Hats Off!” is used as a way to give praise or credit to someone. Our hats are off to you for supporting students who need assistance to stay engaged and be successful at school.

Proceeds from the Women's Recognition Luncheon support students with emergency funding to meet basic needs that allow them to focus on their studies and complete their current semester. These dollars are carefully distributed to help as many students as possible with books, bus passes, minor car repairs, uniforms, etc. Most jobs today require post-secondary education and training, while the cost of education continues to rise.

Your generosity has made it possible for us to increase our maximum award from $150 to $500 and we have already given $15,565 in HawkStrong Emergency Fund awards to students since August 2021.

Over the past six years, Wayne Metro's development efforts have achieved a 55% rate of growth and increased non-federal funding sources to 25% of the organization's overall budget. A challenge seeker and pursuer of change, Mia works alongside her teams to de-sign and carry out best practice solutions and innovative approaches to take on large scale problems and create systems change.
