Writing Center hours, Fall 2019 semester

Writing Center description

The HFC Writing Center, located in the Eshleman Library (Bldg. B), will open for the Fall 2019 Semester Tuesday, Sept. 3. Its hours are:
* Monday and Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
* Wednesday and Thursday: 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
* Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Writing Center helps students communicate successfully by developing skills in academic, business, and creative writing. New faces join the Writing Center this semester: Joel Levise, Grace Irwin, and Angel Knight-King.
* Joel has worked in the Writing Center at Wayne State University in Detroit.
* Grace has a background in TESOL and writing center work.
* Angel is a full-time middle school teacher and a new adjunct English instructor at HFC.

The Writing Center will also have two graduate students from the University of Michigan interning as part of the Transfer Bridges program. These graduate students will learn about the community college experience and will provide guidance for potential transfer students regarding upper-level writing requirements. As the Writing Center provides support for students to transfer within the humanities, it can also help U-M provide support for those students by teaching their faculty and staff about HFC's mission.

The Writing Center plans to pilot SARS Anywhere for online appointment scheduling this semester. At this time, it is not set up, so students who wish to make appointments should email writingcenter@hfcc.edu. Once SARS Anywhere is implemented, another message with more information will be sent out. The Writing Center welcomes drop-in visits as well!

The Writing Center website website provides more information about what students can expect.
