The Peer Review Team

The Higher Learning Commission is a regional higher education accreditation agency. While HLC is not directly affiliated with the federal government, it is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as qualified to accredit degree-granting colleges and universities in the North Central region of the United States.

HLC relies upon the work of peer reviewers for its accrediting activities. HLC maintains a Peer Corps of approximately 1,600 faculty and administrators from institutions within the 19-state North Central region. The peer reviewers play a vital role in all stages of the accreditation process. They are responsible for assuring that an institution is complying with the accreditation criteria as well as for helping an institution advance within the context of its own mission.

The HLC Peer Review Team who will visit HFC comprises the following reviewers:

Dr. Billie Ann Unger (team leader)
Professor & Liberal Arts Program Coordinator
Blue Ridge Community and Technical College (Martinsburg, WV)

Dr. Tyjaun A. Lee
President
Maple Woods and Penn Valley Metropolitan Community College Kansas City (Kansas City, MO)

Ms. Kathy J. Kiser-Miller
Vice President, Dean Steamboat Springs Campus
Colorado Mountain College (Steamboat Springs, CO)

Mr. Stephen Schmall
Vice President of Finance and Facilities
Rochester Community and Technical College (Rochester, MN)

Mr. Ronald Kawanna Jr., J.D.
