HFC alumnus Byron Brooks makes strides in helping the homeless

Byron Brooks

Byron Brooks, who graduated from HFC in 2018 and transferred to Ferris State University to complete his bachelor's degree, hasn't slowed in his determination to help people who struggle with homelessness. When he was an HFC student, Brooks himself was homeless for a time, and received help from caring people at the College. At that time, he decided he would dedicate his future efforts to helping others. He's done so by starting a non-profit that he calls "From the Hood for the Hood." He has distributed winter survival gear, food, and other needed items to the homeless, and hopes to continue growing his efforts.

The latest update on Brooks' efforts is here, with a video story on the Channel 7 WXYZ-TV website.

Congratulations, Byron, and keep up the great work!
