Presidential Search Update, Jan. 23, 2018
Dear HFC Community:
The presidential search process has continued according to the originally published timeline. January 15 was the final day for candidates to apply and receive full consideration.
The presidential search process will continue according to this schedule:
Initial Screening of Applicants
On Weds., Jan. 31 at 5:00 p.m., an open meeting will be convened in the Community Rooms of the HFC Welcome Center. The Presidential Search Advisory Committee (PASC) will select 5-7 candidates to be called for initial interviews. Although this is an open meeting, immediately after the meeting is called to order, a motion to go into closed session will be made so the candidates’ confidentiality agreements can be honored. This is in compliance with the Michigan Open Meetings Act, section 8(f). After the closed session concludes, the meeting will reconvene briefly so that it can be officially ended.
Semifinalist Interviews
On Sat., Feb. 17 and Sun., Feb. 18 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. HFC will host interviews at the Dearborn Inn for semifinalist candidates. A complete schedule will be published prior to these interviews. In accordance with the Michigan Open Meetings Act, interviews will take place in open sessions.
After the semifinalist interviews, the PASC will narrow the candidate pool to 3-5 finalists. At this point, the PASC’s work will officially conclude, and the presidential search process will continue under the direction of the HFC Board of Trustees.
On-Campus Visits
On specified days during the weeks of Feb. 26 - March 2 and March 12-16, the finalists will be meet with various groups on the HFC campus in the Forfa and Berry Auditoriums in the ASCC Building. Two sessions each day will be available for the general public. A complete schedule will be published after arrangements with finalist candidates have been made.
Board of Trustee Interviews and Decision
The HFC Board of Trustees will interview candidates on March 26 and April 2. Additional dates will be added if necessary.
The Board of Trustees will make the final determination and select the next president. The Board will negotiate a contract and will make a public announcement about the presidential selection and start date when the process is completed in the spring.
