Definition and/or Explanation of Basic Fees Related to Enrollment
Registration Fee: The Registration Fee supports general operations of the registration process. The Registration Fee is non-refundable.
Infrastructure Fee: The Infrastructure Fee supports the upkeep of HFC's capital assets, such as buildings, sidewalks, and parking lots.
Service Fee: The Service Fee supports general operations of HFC's student support services within the Division of Student Affairs and various other areas of HFC.
Technology Investment Fee: The Technology Investment Fee supports the College’s Technology Investment Fund (TIF),as well as other technology-based projects that increase or improve student access to technology.
Course Fee: The Course Fee supports costs that are unique to a specific course, which would be considered above and beyond the cost of instruction and basic instructional materials and equipment.
Excess Contact Hour Fee: When a course meets for more hours than those generally reflected by the credit hours associated with that course, “additional or excess contact” exists between the instructor and the student. In these situations, an Excess Contact Hour Fee is assessed to the course as a reflection of the additional (or excess) cost associated with providing this additional instructional time.
For the 2021-2022 academic year Excess Contact Hour Fees are charged at the rate of $105.75 per excess contact hour for in-district students and $184.50 per excess contact hour for students that are not in-district, with a maximum of five excess contact hours charged per course.
Student Activity Fee: The Student Activity Fee supports student government, student clubs, intramural athletic facilities/events, and various other student programming.
