Join us for the Celebrity Basketball Camp and Community Game on March 21
The HFC Detroit Promise Program and Boys 2 Men Youth Mentoring are sponsoring the Youth Mentoring Celebrity Basketball Camp and Community Game, which will be held at HFC in the gymnasium (Room H-109) on the first floor of the Athletic Memorial Building (Building H on the main campus) on Saturday, March 21, from noon to 5:00 p.m.
This is a free, family-friendly event designed to inspire, mentor, and unite youth through sports, leadership, and positive community engagement. This event will bring together local celebrities, athletes, dignitaries, business owners, first responders, and community leaders for a day of mentorship, fellowship, and fun. Some of the guests include:
- Josh Landon of FOX 2 Detroit
- Julius Curry, a former football player for the University of Michigan and the Detroit Lions who owns Curry Motorsports
- State Representative Jason Hoskins
- Detroit rapper Gmac Cash
- Actor/filmmaker DeJuan Ford (A Boyfriend for Christmas)
- Actor Kaamel Hasaun (Fair Play)
- Detroit Regional Chamber officials
- Members of the Wayne County Sheriff Department
- Members of the Detroit Fire Department (DFD)
Showcasing unity through sports, mentorship, and service
The DFD will take on the Wayne County Sheriff Department on the basketball court. In addition, the Celebrity Basketball Game will feature the above-mentioned local celebrities. There will also be:
- A Youth Basketball Mentoring Camp led by HFC basketball players and the guests.
- A live DJ providing family-friendly entertainment.
- A basketball workshop and inspirational moment.
- Food trucks available on-site.
“This event promotes positive youth development, builds trust between community members and first responders, and showcases unity through sports, mentorship, and service. This event will help to broaden the visibility of HFC Detroit Promise and HFC as a pathway from college to career,” said HFC Detroit Promise Program Director Mark Yancy, Jr.
