This summer, students can engage in paid, experiential learning opportunities through the Transfer Bridges to Michigan (TB2M) partnership with the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
You do not need to be part of the TB2M program to apply, and participation does not require a commitment to transfer to the University of Michigan. Use the FREE applications to apply. Just follow the links below.

GLACE – explore the outdoors at the U-M Bio Station
Register for the GLACE internship by February 6
The Great Lakes Arts, Cultures, and Environments (GLACE) program invites you to immerse yourself in nature through field-based courses at the U-M Biological Station a research campus on Douglas Lake, amid 10,000 undeveloped acres in Pellston, a village in Emmet County. The program runs for four weeks during the summer (exact dates TBA).
A small cohort of community college students will work closely with U-M faculty, exploring natural history and cultural identity through texts and hands-on engagement with the local landscape and its inhabitants, ecologies, and histories. GLACE also includes creative writing, hiking, swimming, and visits to places of natural and cultural interest near the tip of the lower peninsula.
This program offers:
- Six (6) U-M credits in the humanities
- A $500 stipend
- Housing, food, books/texts
Culture Corps – immerse yourself in the arts
Register for the Culture Corps internship by February 6
Culture Corps connects undergraduate students with paid internships at arts and cultural organizations (i.e., theatres, museums, non-profit organizations) across Michigan, focusing particularly on Metro Detroit and Grand Rapids. Its goals include:
- Encouraging and exposing you to career pathways in the arts and humanities.
- Introducing you to a wide range of roles – social media, grant writing, event management, and more.
This 15-week internship runs from late April/early May through mid-August.
- The program will pay you $18 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week (300 hours total).
- The program will reimburse your tuition costs.

Blueprints for Leading with Integrity – become an effective leader
Register for the Barger Leadership Institute workshop by February 6
The Barger Leadership Institute (BLI) workshop – “Blueprints for Leading with Integrity (Intention, Impact, Imagination)” – is an immersive 5-day workshop on the practice of ethical, reflective, and effective leadership on the U-M campus in Ann Arbor. The program will guide you on your journey to becoming a better leader.
You will participate in activities that enhance your self-awareness and explore the values that drive your leadership style. Collaborative team experiences will further your capacity for strategic thinking and leading, all within a small cohort setting designed for intentional personal feedback. Workshop activities range from storytelling and campus scavenger hunts to teamwork competitions and ethics exploration. Blueprints will culminate in a showcase of personal leadership philosophies and a closing ceremony. Notable guest speakers from leadership programs across campus will share their knowledge and experiences with you.
This program runs from Wednesday, June 23, through Saturday, June 27. Its benefits include:

UROP fellowship – conduct undergraduate research
Register for UROP by February 6
The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP), which is part of the Community College Summer Fellowship Program at U-M, runs from Tuesday, May 26, to Friday, July 31, on the U-M campus in Ann Arbor. This 10-week paid summer fellowship is for Michigan community college students who are interested in transferring to four-year university after earning their associate degree.
Research projects are available in all fields, including:
- Social sciences
- Humanities
- Engineering
- Health sciences
- Physical sciences
- Natural sciences
- Environmental sciences
UROP seeks to attract a diverse student population, welcoming all students including women, historically underrepresented students, first-generation college students, students from low-income backgrounds, and veterans. You do not need prior research experience to join UROP.
You will earn between $3,000 and $7,000 (including a housing stipend if needed). UROP will give you research experience, introduce you to likeminded students and professors, and build your academic skills.
