New MCAP program leads to certified auto tech roles at Stellantis dealerships
HFC and Stellantis have joined forces to create a brand-new training program specifically designed for Mopar products.
The Mopar Career Automotive Program (MCAP) provides students with classroom and hands-on automotive training to become a certified automotive technician.
If you are a student looking to become a service technician at a Stellantis dealership — which includes Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram — you can fully complete this training at HFC before becoming employed. This path allows you to dedicate time to getting hands-on experience as you prepare for your career.
“This program means you will not have to undergo training at the dealership; you will be ready to go,” said HFC automotive instructor Georgia Travis. “You get access to Stellantis OEM training and will complete it by the end of your HFC degree or certificate program. So you get to do all of the training before you even get to the dealership! Additionally, being able to put ‘Phase 3 certified technician’ on your résumé will make you much more employable and stand out from other technicians. Most OEM dealerships require you to take additional training classes to become a fully independent technician at their dealership. With the MCAP program, you can complete all your training at HFC and, if you choose, earn a college degree as part of the deal.”
MCAP addresses auto tech shortages
This partnership serves as a local solution to the growing national demand for qualified automotive service technicians. Acute shortages of training technicians have created great opportunities for our students to succeed in great jobs.
There are three phases to the MCAP program with a set number of classes in each phase. The classes cover electronic skills, transmissions, scan tool usage, programming diesel, and other relevant topics.
“The nice thing is that all the online courses match closely with courses we offer on-site, so instructors can help with any questions that may arise,” said Travis. “The classes can be completed via the Dealer Connect website so they can be done anywhere, anytime. To sign up, all you have to do is set up a meeting with me.”
You will complete this program with the certifications necessary to immediately step into high-demand roles at local Stellantis dealerships, noted HFC Associate Dean of Industrial Technologies in the HFC School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Development (BEPD) Dr. Sašo Krstovski.
“Partnerships like this one reflect the confidence the automotive industry has in HFC,” said Krstovski. “They reinforce what employers already know: that HFC produces skilled, job-ready talent through state-of-the-art facilities, engaged faculty, and industry-aligned training.”
