HFC is launching “Money Moves: the Entrepreneur Workshop Series,” a free, high-energy summer program designed to equip aspiring founders, small business owners, and students with the practical skills needed to generate sustainable revenue for your business. Everyone is welcome. You do not need to be affiliated with Henry Ford College.
Hosted by the Entrepreneurship Hub and facilitated by banking veteran Lysa Davis, this three-part series will be in Room E-146 on the first floor of the Technology Building (Building E on the main campus):
- Wednesday, June 10, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.: “Sell to Survive: The Art and Science of Making Money.” The focus of this workshop is identifying customers, pricing for profit, closing sales with confidence, and delivering a 60-second pitch that captures people’s attention.
- Wednesday, June 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.: “Contracts & Cash: How to Win Government Business.” The focus of this workshop is demystifying procurement at the city, county, state, and federal levels while using certifications like MBE, WBE, and DBE to gain a competitive edge.
- Wednesday, June 24, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.: “Scroll to Sold: Turning Social Media into Revenue.” The focus of this workshop is building content that converts followers into paying customers.
These events are open to everyone. The sessions are each unique, but you can still attend even if you cannot make it to all three sessions. Parking is free and near the building.
About the presenter - and a place to start or grow your entrepreneurial venture
Davis is a 25-year banking executive and CEO of Compliance and Community Consultants, LLC, with more than 300,000 social media followers. Davis has coordinated $13.5 million in small business and micro loan funding. She specializes in helping entrepreneurs become “bankable,” build approvable loan profiles, and understand how banks evaluate small businesses for financing. She then helps them stabilize, sustain, and scale their venture.
“You don’t need a perfect idea. You don’t need a perfect plan. You don’t even need to have any experience. You just need a place to start. This is that place,” said HFC business instructor MariAnn Apley.
Added HFC business instructor Selina Griswold: “These hands-on sessions are designed for action. These workshops will help you start building something real.”
Designed for real world impact
The “Money Moves” series is specifically for people who are founding or starting up a business, and existing small business owners who are ready to learn sustainable revenue strategies to thrive. Each interactive session provides you with actionable tools you can implement in your businesses immediately.
The three-part series offers a hands-on experience and a new way of learning about what you can do to succeed. The program includes information from business theory to actionable practice, focusing on the core mechanics of sustainable profitability.
“The HFC Entrepreneurship Hub is a vital entry point for students and community members to start, test, and grow real businesses,” said Apley. “This summer, we are opening our doors for three free, hands-on workshops designed to help entrepreneurs at every stage build the revenue skills that matter. Whether you want to close more sales, land a government contract, or make social media work for your business, this series is for you.”
