HFC hosts annual Hunger Games vs. OCC
HFC Athletics will participate in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Hunger Games on Wednesday, February 11, against Oakland Community College in the Athletic Memorial Building (Building H on the main campus). The women’s basketball team will play at 5:30 p.m., and the men’s basketball team will play at 7:30 p.m.
Admission to this game will be $10 or five (5) canned food items.
“We are excited to host our annual Hunger Games event. This is always a great opportunity for our HFC community to come together for a great cause,” said HFC Associate Athletic Director Kirk Bradley.
Food and monetary donations benefit The Hawks’ Nest
We are asking for the HFC community to support the Hunger Games by donating canned goods and non-perishable food items at the games on February 11. If you cannot attend the game, you can still donate food no later than Thursday, February 12.
You can also make a monetary donation. All food items and funds will support The Hawks’ Nest, HFC’s student food pantry.
Fostering a competitive spirit since 2014
The MCCAA Hunger Games have been fostering a competitive spirit focused on giving back to our local communities since 2014. All 24 member institutions select a home basketball game during which they encourage people to donate canned goods and non-perishable food items. The donations are tallied and delivered to their local community food pantries.
At the end of the conference season, the MCCAA crowns the winner of the contest with the coveted Hunger Games Plaque. In 2025, the MCCAA Hunger Games provided 15,335 meals to food pantries throughout the state. Thanks to the generosity of our fans, HFC provided 3,531 meals and was ranked second in total meals provided in 2025 for the third consecutive year.
