Scholarship applications are free, and any scholarship money you receive is free. It does not need to be repaid.

The annual application period for HFC students to apply for scholarships through the Henry Ford College Foundation will be from Thursday, January 1, 2026 through Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

Thanks to generous donations throughout the years, there are more than 150 HFC scholarships offered through the Foundation. Each year, approximately 400 monetary awards from these scholarships are given to students. The Foundation provides scholarship opportunities for students from a broad range of backgrounds and interests who are seeking an education in a wide variety of programs offered through the College.

“We encourage everyone to apply early for scholarships,” said HFC Scholarship Coordinator Stacy Bazman.

Applying for HFC scholarships

After you complete the general scholarship application on the HFC scholarship website, you are automatically matched to the HFC scholarships that best fit your eligibility criteria.

You also have the option of applying for additional HFC scholarships that require more information. After filling out the general scholarship application, you can search for opportunities that match your background, interests, or program of study. The eligibility criteria and application requirements vary, but typically require any of the following:

  • An application
  • Answers to a short series of questions
  • A short essay
  • A letter(s) of recommendation

Scholarship winners are announced in late April and early May. The scholarship funds may be utilized for that upcoming academic year in the fall, winter, or summer semesters. You will receive notification through HawkMail. As a condition of accepting the scholarship(s), you will also send a letter of thanks to the donor(s).

Non-HFC scholarship opportunities

Scholarship funds are one of the best ways to pay for college, as the funds are free to you and do not need to be repaid. Scholarships are available from many sources, not just HFC. This includes high schools, places of worship, various community and civic groups, professional organizations, and employers. You can also check the reference section of your local library or run an internet search for additional scholarship opportunities.
