HFC softball player Addison Butt was named the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks in April during the 2025-26 season.

“I pitched a game that went into extra innings and had 19 strikeouts,” said Butt. “I was in shock when I found out that I was named twice. I knew I was playing well, but I wasn’t expecting this recognition. It is an honor -- there are so many people in the league deserving to be named. The award gave me and my teammates a boost to finish the season strong.”

HFC Assistant Athletic Director Steve Brown is proud of Butt.

“This is an outstanding accomplishment. Congratulations to Addison on earning back-to-back honors!” he said. “This kind of consistency is a direct reflection of Addison’s hard work, dedication, and impact on the field. Achievements like this don’t happen by accident; they’re the result of preparation, focus, and a commitment to your team. We’re proud of what she’s accomplished and excited to see her continue building on this success.”

Playing for HFC gave her the chance to improve her game

The youngest of five, Butt is a lifelong resident of Gibraltar. She graduated from Carlson High School, where she played softball for four years. She was on the varsity team for three years and served as captain for two.

“I was really interested in playing softball in college. The coaches at HFC kept reaching out to me. They came to watch me play. They talked about HFC’s softball program, and it sounded like a really good fit for me. I felt I could improve my skills and help the team,” she said.

Butt is attending HFC on a softball scholarship. She is majoring in liberal arts and expects to graduate in 2027. She wants to continue her softball career when she transfers to a university. Her career goal is to become a police officer.

“Many people in my family are either in the military or police,” she said. “Being a police officer would fit my personality well. I’d be good at it.”

Very coachable and a good teammate

Butt has been playing softball since she was 3.

“I’m fired up to play. I love my teammates and I love sharing that excitement with them,” she said.

Coach Steve Littleton has had a positive influence on Butt.

“He’s a very funny guy. He’s always making jokes,” she said. “He cares a lot about the players and goes the extra mile for us. He’s also easy to talk to. He’s willing to listen to me about whatever is on my mind.”

Littleton recognizes the impact of her talents and work: “Addison is a competitor; she wants to be on the mound all the time to help her team win. She’s very coachable and a good teammate.”

HFC Associate Athletic Director Kirk Bradley is also impressed by Butt’s accomplishments.

“Addison is an excellent role model for all our student-athletes,” he said. “She has worked incredibly hard and is seeing the results of her efforts.”
