Wanting to see the students she mentored as high schoolers graduate from college attracted Student Support Professional Jeanean M. Bryant to HFC.

"I worked as a college transition advisor at Mumford High School and Northwestern High School in Detroit," said Bryant. "When my students graduated, I wanted to see them earn a college degree, which is why I came to the College. I promised them I would personally attend their graduation ceremony to celebrate the degree they’ve earned."

After working in the Detroit Public Schools Community District for nearly 18 years, Bryant joined HFC in 2024 and reports to HFC Enrollment Services Coordinator Katrina Minnis. Bryant’s duties include:

  • Helping students and their families understand the financial aid process and providing them with education resources.
  • Assisting students with completing the FAFSA.
  • Communicating with students regarding their financial aid status.
  • Working with other departments to coordinate financial aid disbursements.

"I love making a difference in the lives of students," said Bryant. "As a mentor, educator, and change agent, it is imperative to put students first and support them in their efforts to achieve academic excellence. Educators must empower students to engage and compete to the highest standards."

Ensures, educates, and empowers

HFC Assistant Director of Enrollment Services, Assessment, and Orientation Nikole Ford-Kondraciuk and HFC Enrollment Services Proctor Alecia Carter enjoy working with Bryant.

"Students know they can count on Jeanean," said Ford-Kondraciuk. "She shows up with kindness, listens without judgment, and really cares about helping students figure things out. She builds genuine connections, earning students' trust, making them feel supported and not rushing them."

Added Carter: "It's a pleasure to work with Jeanean. Her interaction with students and staff members is spectacular. She is very thorough and always brings out the best in others around her."

A lifelong Detroiter and the youngest of four, Bryant graduated from Lutheran West High School. A two-time alumna of Wayne State University, she earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and her education specialist certification. She also earned a master's degree in administration from Central Michigan University.

"The best part of my job is to provide first class educational services to all students I encounter," said Bryant. "I ensure, educate, and empower every student in the community every day. I focus on strengthening students’ knowledge of financial aid and college career readiness. I understand how to support students to achieve their ultimate goal, which is to graduate from HFC or matriculate to a four-year college. Being a change agent allows me to be a motivator to inspire and encourage students to work smarter to achieve their goals. I love seeing students smile and walk out of my office with the confidence to conquer the world."
