Welcome Day events for all new students

Held about a week before the Fall 2025 semester at HFC begins, our free Welcome Day events offer a glimpse into what your student experience will be like at HFC. You'll be able to meet the faculty in your academic program, explore the HFC campus with a scavenger hunt, and build your student support network.

All Welcome Day events will be held in the Forfa Auditorium (Room L-101) on the first floor of the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services & Conference Center (ASCC) (Building L on the main campus).

HFC has four Schools representing our academic programs:

  • The School of Liberal Arts (SOLA)
  • The School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
  • The School of Health and Human Services (HHS)
  • The School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Development (BEPD)

Each School will hold a Welcome Day information session. No registration is required.

Family members welcome, too

Parents and family members will also have a dedicated session to provide insights from our HFC counseling team on how they can support your academic journey. Family members should attend this event at the same time your Welcome Day information session takes place.

SOLA on August 12

The SOLA Welcome Day information session will be held Tuesday, August 12, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

SOLA offers courses in the liberal arts, including general studies, English, political science, foreign languages, psychology, music, theatre, media communication arts, and more.

STEM on August 12

The STEM Welcome Day information session will be held Tuesday, August 12, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

STEM offers courses in mathematics, the sciences, pre-engineering, and more. For questions or more information about STEM, contact 313-845-9632 or steminfo@hfcc.edu.

HHS on August 13

The HHS Welcome Day information session will be on Wednesday, August 13, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

HHS offers courses in the healthcare fields, including nursing, physical therapy, social work, pre-education, ophthalmic technician, and more.

BEPD on August 14

The BEPD Welcome Day information session will be on Thursday, August 14, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

BEPD offers courses in business administration, accounting, marketing, paralegal studies, computer science/cybersecurity, culinary arts, hospitality management, automotive technology, trade and apprentice, sustainable energy, and more.
