The HFC Music department will host its Spring Jazz Concert on Wednesday, April 30, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Adray Auditorium (Room F-100) in the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center (Building F on the main campus).

Three musical ensembles will perform at this concert under the leadership of HFC Director of Music Anthony Lai and Director of the HFC Chorus Amy Saari:

  • Henry Ford Big Band
  • Studio 110 Jazz Orchestra
  • Blue Fusion Vocal Jazz Ensemble

The concert will feature Brazilian jazz, bebop, and funk. Blue Fusion will perform their renditions of “Shining Star” by Earth, Wind & Fire and “Morning Coffee” by Bill Cantos.

“‘Shining Star’ is our funk piece. ‘Morning Coffee’ is our high-caffeine, bebop-inspired piece by Bill Cantos and arranged by Michelle Weir,” said Saari. "The main joy for me in doing this concert is the collaboration – I get to work with great singers, and also great instrumentalists and Anthony Lai."

Studio 110 will play music by EW&F, Chicago, Antonín Dvořák, and a new arrangement by HFC music student Louis Tijerina.

This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. For questions or more information, contact Lai at ajlai@hfcc.edu.

Public events at HFC are open to all. Everyone is welcome.
