The Learning Lab is open for Fall
Make a tutoring appointment at the Learning Lab
The Learning Lab is open for the Fall 2025 semester. The Lab is on the second floor of the Learning Success Center (LSC) (Building A on the main campus). Hours are:
- Monday through Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
There will be limited online, after-hours tutoring with Learning Lab tutors and HFC instructors. NetTutor continues to be available for 24/365 online tutoring. Students can access NetTutor through HFC Online/Moodle (Login are required).
Tutoring is offered through a combination of appointments and walk-in options. Students can sign up for a 40-minute appointment.
“The Learning Lab is committed to supporting HFC students with supplemental academic assistance,” said HFC Interim Learning Lab Coordinator Tracie Varitek. “During my time in the Learning Lab, I have had the chance to work with so many faculty who have great programs, passion, and ideas for student success. I am still learning and listening. I hope this semester will allow me to follow through with more of ideas and suggestions and to form more partnerships,”
Learning Lab Resources
The Learning Lab has study spaces, tutoring, relaxation spaces, and various academic resources, including the Bone Room and the newly-relocated Writing Center (Room A-201).
Other resources:
- Computers
- Free printing
- Headphones
- Math and science textbooks
- Calculators
- Group and independent study spaces
One of Varitek’s goals is to create a menu of academic skills workshops for various classes. Plans are currently underway to schedule Tests of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) preparation and study skills workshops.
“We are hoping the Learning Lab can be a place where students feel comfortable studying or seeking resources and assistance during their time at HFC,” said Varitek. “We’ll continue to have tutors available for math, science, and general study skills, as well as computer access and printing. The Bone Room is still here for students in biology, physiology, and anatomy courses. Because the Henry Ford Early College moved to its new location, we are able to offer more soft space and focused study areas for HFC students to use. We are excited about expanding our services and outreach.”
