To celebrate Earth Day, Sustainable HFC will host a DIY reusable bag-creating event on Tuesday, April 22, from noon to 3:00 p.m. near the Skylight Café in the John McDonald Student and Culinary Arts Center (Building M on the main campus).

If you want to help, go through your wardrobe and find gently worn T-shirts you no longer need. You can donate them to make a reusable bag (see video below). These bags will be donated to the Hawks’ Nest, HFC’s student food pantry, which is going green.

Donate your T-shirt(s) before April 22 by dropping them off in Room G-132 of the Health Sciences Education Center (Building G on the main campus). Or, you can bring them to the April 22 bag-making and create the bags yourself. Supplies and materials will be provided. Sustainable HFC members will guide you through this fun activity -- no special skills needed!

This drop-in activity is free. For questions or more information, contact Hala Al-Siyaghy at 313-845-9782 or htal-siyaghy@hfcc.edu.

Public events at HFC are open to all. Everyone is welcome.
