In celebration of World Mental Health Day, HFC will host this student-focused event filled with many fun activities and resources on Thursday, October 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the first floor of the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services & Conference Center (ASCC) (Building L on the main campus).

Taking care of your mental health during college can be one of the most challenging aspects of life to prioritize, but is one of the most important. Our goal is to emphasize how HFC can support your well-being. Learn essential skills related to caring for yourself. We will connect you with some of the amazing services available to you during your time at the College.

There will be plenty of fun self-care activities you can do, such as:

  • Free guided yoga sessions hosted by HFC team members Pamela Stewart and Dr. Cristina Bailey.
  • Interactive games led by local community agencies and HFC departments.
  • Tools and resources to practice self-care and enhance your mental health.

Outcomes of World Mental Health Day

The intended outcomes of World Mental Health Day include:

  • Familiarizing yourself with mental health resources on campus and in the community.
  • Breaking down the stigma surrounding mental illness and encouraging a culture of belonging at HFC.
  • Learning tools for practicing self-care and how to improve your holistic wellbeing.

There will also be free prizes, giveaways, crafts, snacks, and more. World Mental Health Day is free and open to all HFC students.

This event is co-sponsored by Student Activities; Counseling; and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB). For questions or more information, contact 313-845-9865 or studentactivities@hfcc.edu.
