Donations needed for the Solidary Christmas Toy and Clothes Drive
HFC Student Activities, the Henry Ford II Honors Program, and the HFC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) (Alpha Xi Mu) are joining forces this season for the Solidary Christmas Toy/Clothes Drive, which runs through Thursday, December 12.
Student Activities, the Honors Program, and PTK are accepting toys, clothing, and monetary donations. All proceeds will go to Freedom House Detroit.
Founded in 1983, Freedom House Detroit is a nonprofit organization that supports and empowers refugees and those seeking asylum and humanitarian protection on their journey to safety, security, and freedom by providing comprehensive services in an inclusive and welcoming space. Freedom House Detroit is a beacon of hope and a stepping stone for people escaping life-threatening situations. Donations help ensure that Freedom House Detroit can put its funding toward programming needs that cannot be purchased at the store.
What and where to donate
You can donate to Freedom House Detroit by purchasing items from the Amazon wish list. The gift registry includes clothing, personal care items, and cleaning supplies. These items can be dropped off on the main campus:
- The Student Activities office, Room M-105 in the John McDonald Student and Culinary Arts Center (Building M)
- The Honors Hub, Room K-104 on the first floor of the Reuther Liberal Arts Building (Building K)
- The PTK cubicle in the Student Club Room, Room M-109 in the McDonald Center (Building M)
Please purchase your items for donation by December 12
If you are making a monetary donation, only cash or checks can be accepted. Please send them via inter-office mail or deliver them in person to:
- Chardin Claybourne in the Honors Hub (Room K-104)
- Dr. Cassandra Fluker in the Student Activities office (Room M-105A)
- Kayla Collins in the Student Activities office (Room M-105)
