HFC pre-engineering students will show off their ingenuity at the HFC Engineering Club Competition. Pictured here is a Battle-Bot, designed by HFC pre-engineering students. The students will pit their Battle-Bots against one another.

The 7th annual HFC Engineering Club Competition will be held Thursday, April 27, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. in the pavilion of the Student and Culinary Arts Center (Bldg. M) on the main campus.

Approximately 75 students in the Introduction to Engineering class will compete in 20 teams to propose an innovative solution to an important real-world problem.

“Students come up with ideas to solve a problem. This includes designing a cooling system for RC cars, a pothole robot which identifies potholes on the road, portable solar chargers for phones, implementing noise levels in headphones, and so on,” said HFC Pre-Engineering Program Director Dr. Hassan Mohseni Nameghi.

War of the Battle-Bots

There will also be the first Battle-Bot Competition at HFC. Student teams in the Engineering Club will test their robots’ mettle as they pit them against one another.

“Students build robots – Battle-Bots – and put them in fights with other Battle-Bots. They use a joystick remote to control their robots. The winning robot pushes the other robot away from the circle,” said Nameghi. “I am proud of our motivated, energetic students who are very creative in their problem-solving.”

This event is free and open to the public. We encourage you to attend and cheer on the engineering teams.
