Light loggers installed temporarily as part of Integrated Energy Master Plan

As of January 17, Johnson Controls, an HFC business partner, has installed light metering devices – also called light loggers – across the main campus.

These light loggers will record the number of hours the ceiling lights are turned on in the areas in which they are installed. They will be in place for the next 2-3 weeks. There will be approximately 180 loggers around campus to record how many hours the ceiling lights stay on. This data will be compiled and extrapolated into a yearly estimate of light usage at HFC. Light loggers will be mainly installed in classrooms. Some will be installed in hallways and offices.

Please follow your regular lighting usage. We are not asking you to modify usage of the lights.

Please note that the light loggers can only record light usage. They cannot record audio or visual data. The appearance of the loggers can make them look like monitoring devices (see photo), but they are only capable of recording light usage. The light loggers will be removed at the end of the survey period.

This is part of the introductory work for the Integrated Energy Master Plan (IEMP), which was officially approved by the Board at its December meeting. You will be hearing much more about the IEMP in the coming months.
