HFC wrestlers excel in MCCAA championships; Mancina wins individual gold

HFC wrestlers competed at the state-wide MCCAA Wrestling Championship, held Saturday, Jan. 12 at Muskegon Community College. The team did very well, with six wrestlers placing in the top four in their weight class:

149 – Martin Bustos, 3rd place
157 – Mike Bergmooser, 2nd place
174 – Dominic Mancina, MCCAA Champion (pictured, right)
285 – Devlen Kuschel, 4th place

Team Results:

1st: Muskegon, 97.5
2nd: Ancilla, 50.0
3rd: Henry Ford College, 48.0
4th: St. Clair County CC, 20.0

The team will compete at the North Central District Tournament (teams from Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana) on Thursday, Feb. 17. The tournament will be held at Muskegon Community College.

The top competitors from the district tournament will qualify for the national tournament in the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on March 1-2.
