HANK now works with any browser and operating system

Ellucian has released a platform-independent version of their User Interface. The look and feel of HANK is different in this version, but the functionality is the same. The biggest change with UI is the removal of Microsoft Silverlight as required component. What this means is that now HANK UI can run in any browser and any system. Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, computer, tablet or phone. The current version of the UI is 5.4 and it is available in our Production environment.

Over the past 6 months we've tested it internally and provided some valuable feedback to Ellucian to make it better.

Version 5.4 was released on December 14, 2017. It is now available in our Production environment. The release notes are attached to this message for your review.

The url for UI 5.4 is: phank-lgn.hfcc.edu:8443/ui/home/index.html

Here are a couple introductory videos on UI 5. The first link is a general overview/sales pitch. The second video is a quick tour that explores the look and feel changes of UI 5 with the NAE screen.

If you have the time, please use the new version of the UI. To use the UI with your phone, laptop or tablet you need to be connected to the internal network (via network cable or HFCCv2 wifi). We will run both UI 4.6 and UI 5.4 will run concurrently for a period of time. The time-frame for the UI 4.6 shutdown is yet to be determined. Please give it a try and let us know if you run into any issues.

A HANK Admin issue has been created to track any problems we experience with the new UI. If you run into any issues with 5.4 or have comments or concerns, please post them into this issue: https://dvc.hfcc.net/hank/issues/issue4952

Please note, if you are an Image Now user, scanning and linking can only work with one UI at a time. We've kept that function exclusive to UI 4.6 for now. We ask that you continue to use 4.6 for that purpose.

Thank you for your support!
