HFC Music Program to play during the month of May.
HFC Music Program to play during the month of May.

HFC's Music Program will perform a concert in Dearborn on May 22.

On Sunday, May 22, at 4 p.m., HFC’s Choir-In-Residence Vanguard Voices & Brass, along with special guest singer Quinto Milito, will participate in the Vanguard Spring Concert where they will perform “Carmina Burana” and many opera favorites. The Vanguard Spring Concert will be at the Michael A. Guido Theater in the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, located at 15801 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn. Tickets are $15 and $11 ($6 for students with valid IDs). To purchase tickets, call 313-943-2354.

HFC is home to one of the largest music programs with the most number of music ensembles of all two-year colleges in Michigan. The musicians in the HFC musical ensembles represent a cross-section of HFC’s student body. Music ensembles from HFC have regularly toured and performed at special events across the country and in Europe.

In fact, the Big Band and Midnight Blue Vocal Jazz ensembles performed at the inaugurations of both President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama. Additionally, HFC musicians have performed at the National Museum of American History for approximately 4,000 attendees.

At the beginning of 2016, HFC launched a new one-year program in Recording Arts featuring a fully functional digital recording studio. Students in the Recording Arts Certificate (RAC) program will gain hands-on experience in a fully functioning recording studio while learning the tools and vocabulary necessary to succeed in a professional recording studio. This program is suited to students who love music, like to make beats, and record but who have never been in band, orchestra, or choir.
