WHFR's 8th Annual Record Show will please everyone!

HFC's WHFR student-run radio station will host its 8th Annual Record Show on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student & Culinary Arts Center (Building M).

The show will offer THOUSANDS of rare and mainstream records, CDs, videos and other forms of music memorabilia for sale by independent, local and out-of-state vendors. There will also be door prizes, giveaways, and more.

This event is open to the public. General admission is between $1-$5 on a sliding scale with an early bird admission for $5 from 9 to 10 a.m. All proceeds benefit WHFR-FM.

As a non-commercial, volunteer-staffed station, WHFR-FM is not licensed to sell commercials and must heavily rely on support from HFC and private donations to operate. More than 60 percent of its operating budget comes from donor support.

WHFR-FM is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Since it began as a student radio club with a closet-sized room for public address operation in 1985, WHFR-FM has developed into an award-winning live 24/7 broadcast and Internet outlet. On-air formats include blues, world, classical, avant jazz, indie rock, alternative/modern rock, techno, urban, big band, rockabilly, Americana, local news & views, classic radio drama and much more. All music shows highlight new releases, independent labels and local artists.

“We are extremely proud of providing three decades of successful and award-winning broadcasting to the community,” said Susan McGraw, WHFR-FM General Manager.
