Spring Band Concert April 21

HFC's Music Dept. will hold the Spring Band Concert on Tuesday, April 21, at 8 p.m. at the Michael A. Guido Theater in the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, which is located at 15801 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.

The following HFC music groups will perform at this year's Spring Band Concert:

  • Metropolitan Symphony Band: The largest community college concert band in Michigan, the Symphony Band includes HFC music students, advanced placement high school students, students from neighboring universities and members of the community.
  • Symphonic Wind Ensemble: Known as HFC’s “instrumental honors group,” the Symphonic Wind Ensemble features the top musicians from other HFC bands, performing challenging compositions.

HFC is home to the largest music program of all two-year colleges in Michigan. The musicians in HFC ensembles represent a cross-section of HFC’s student body. Music ensembles from HFC have regularly toured and performed at special events across the country and in Europe.

The music for the Spring Band Concert will include Percy Griainger, Clare Grundman, Eric Osterling and Sergei Prokofiev. The concert will also feature the world premiere of a trumpet sonata written and performed by student Ray Vipond with a special band accompaniment written by Randall Knight, associate dean, Social Science, Arts, & Fitness.

General admission is $10 for adults, $7 for students with valid photo IDs and senior citizens. Tickets are available at the box office, online at www.dearborntheater.com, at the door or by calling 313-943-2354.
