Inaugural President’s Gala Set for May 16

HFC will host the first President’s Gala – a black tie affair – on Saturday, May 16, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the prestigious Fairlane Club (www.fairlaneclub.com) in Dearborn.

Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with the President’s VIP Reception. Dinner begins at 7 p.m., followed immediately by the awards ceremony. Dancing begins at 9:30 p.m. with music provided by the HFC Big Band.

HFC will also bestow upon individual Presidential Awards. These awards recognize the exceptional generosity of HFC faculty, staff, major donors, community leaders and HFC Foundation partners for their continuous philanthropic support to HFC in categories noted below.

  • Community Leader: Presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in volunteer fundraising to benefit HFC. The 2015 Recipient is George Bedner.
  • Major Individual Donor: Presented to an individual or family with a proven record of exceptional philanthropic generosity to HFC. The 2015 Recipient is Donald Dodge.
  • Community Group: Presented to a community/civic group that has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in volunteer fundraising to benefit HFC. The 2015 Recipient is the Garden Club.
  • Corporation: Presented to a corporation or its corporate foundation for demonstrating outstanding commitment to philanthropy to HFC. The 2015 Recipient is DTE Energy.
  • HFC Retiree: Presented to a former yet outgoing HFC faculty/staff member with a proven record of exceptional philanthropic generosity to HFC. The 2015 Recipient is TBD.
  • HFC Staff: Presented to a current HFC staff member with a proven record of exceptional philanthropic generosity to HFC. The 2015 Recipient is Lynn Borczon, HFC assistant director of Human Resources.
  • HFC Faculty Member: Presented to a current HFC faculty member with a proven record of exceptional philanthropic generosity to HFC. The 2015 Recipient is Gary Heinz, who teaches in the Ford ASSET program at HFC.
  • The President’s Scholarship: The most prestigious scholarship offered by HFC, the recipient will receive a $1,500 scholarship to continue his or her education at Siena Heights University. The 2015 Recipient is TBD.

HFC Student Ambassadors will serve as greeters. During the awards ceremony, a video produced by HFC media students will be shown. HFC Culinary Arts students will provide light hors d’ouevres and other treats. The Hawkster – HFC’s official mascot – will also show up during the night.

“The purpose of this gala is to recognize the people who have contributed and given and sacrificed for our College in many ways, as well as celebrate the accomplishments of the past year and every year ahead,” said HFC President Dr. Stan Jensen.
