Society & Friends Donor Dinner Highlights Fine Arts

The HFC Foundation hosted its annual 1938 Society & Friends Donor Dinner in October and highlighted the College’s Fine Arts programs, including Art Foundations, Graphic Design, Ceramics, as well as the Sisson Art Gallery. The theme for this year’s event was “Mahalo,” a Hawaiian term to say “Thank you.”

Attendees enjoyed a gourmet meal comprised of Hawaiian culinary delights prepared by Hospitality and Culinary Studies students and instructors. During the event, student work from Fine Arts, Graphic Design and Ceramics, were on display, and provided an exceptional example of the skills and talents of HFC students. A. Reginald Best, HFC vice president of Development, served as the Master of Ceremonies at this event.

As a comprehensive college with a diverse student population, HFC faculty values teaching and learning. The College’s Fine Arts programs are some of the best examples of this philosophy. Students engaged in these programs have their artwork, designs and photographs displayed at and/or in various sponsored gallery events in the area, award-winning publications and achieve exceptional careers in their fields.

Monetary donations made to the Foundation support HFCC initiatives and programs, such as capital and equipment needs, new and enhanced facilities, scholarships, new academic programs, and workforce and career training/development.

“HFC has been the beneficiary of the generous support from a loyal and growing number of donors and benefactors since it was founded in 1938,” said Best.

To recognize philanthropic support, the HFCC Foundation established The 1938 Society, whose membership includes the following major donor-giving clubs:

  • The Henry Ford Legacy Circle (bequests and planned gifts);
  • Life Members (cumulative giving of $25,000 or more);
  • Endowed Scholarships ($10,000); and
  • The President’s Circle and the Scholars’ Club (annual gifts of $1,000 or more).
