New and improved Alumni Association debuts

HFCC Alumni Association Party

After seven years, the HFCC Alumni Association has returned.

To make it official, about 15 alumni and HFCC staff attended the Alumni Association’s inaugural event on Jan. 10 at PizzaPapolis in Dearborn.

“There are thousands of HFCC alumni throughout our area, Michigan and the nation. The goal of the Alumni Association is to provide these individuals an opportunity to network and reconnect with the College. We’re excited to grow the Alumni Association into an organization that meets the needs of its members, the College and our surrounding communities,” said John Lewandowski, HFCC Foundation executive director.

The Alumni Association’s mission is to create fellowship among HFCC alumni; advocate on the College’s behalf; assist in student recruitment; support charitable initiatives of the Foundation; and provide programs and services for alumni.

According to Lewandowski, the next step is organizing a nine-member Alumni Association Board of Directors, which will plan benefits and activities. So far, Alumni Association membership benefits include the following:

• Reconnect with service-minded friends, alumni and faculty;
• Learn about upcoming alumni events;
• Network with other alumni members;
• Opportunity to join alumni committees;
• Opportunity to promote higher education with scholarships;
• Athletic event discounts;
• Access to the Eshleman Library;
• College store discount; and
• Group Event opportunities.
