HFCC presents “Bridge to Terabithia”

HFCC's Theater for Young Audiences program will present “Bridge to Terabithia” in November and December. Performances will take place in the Adray Auditorium, located in the Mackenzie Fine Arts Center on the main campus.

“Bridge to Terabithia” is Katherine Paterson’s 1977 award-winning novel, where two children – Jesse Aarons and Leslie Burke – create a magical forest kingdom called Terbathia, which only they can enter. They visit Terabithia every day after school and the fantasy realm becomes their sanctuary. It is a bittersweet tale of young friendship, vivid imagination and faith, offering life-lessons in grief and facing our fears.

Paterson adapted her novel for the stage with Stephanie Tolan. Two film adaptations have been made, the most recent of which is the 2007 Disney version of the same name starring Zooey Deschanel (TV’s “New Girl”), Robert Patrick (“Terminator 2: Judgment Day”), AnnaSophia Robb (“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”) and Josh Hutcherson (“The Hunger Games”).

Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 for students with valid photo ID and $8 for children ages 12 and under. Groups of 10 or more are $8 per seat. Evening performances are Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 9-10, Nov. 16-17, Nov. 30-Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. Matinee performances are Saturdays, Nov. 10, Nov. 17 and Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.
