HFCC presents SubUrbia Aug. 19 - 28

Henry Ford Community College's Fine Arts and Fitness Division presents the off-Broadway play 'SubUrbia’ Aug. 19 - 28 at the Henry Ford Centennial Library, 16301 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.

Show times are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students with ID. For more information or ticket reservations, call (313) 845-9817 or email Chris Bremer at ctbremer@hfcc.edu. Tickets also can be purchased at the door.

SubUrbia tells the story of a group of friends in their early twenties who are hanging out in the parking lot of convenience store, bashing each other, harassing the store owners and contemplating their future. The youths want to leave their small town, Burnfield, and make something of their lives. The friends’ failure to achieve success in life is emphasized by the return of their semi-famous rocker friend, Pony.

Starring as the three dillusioned men are Eric Bennett of Riverview as Jeff, Brandon Grantz of Dearborn Heights as Buff and Jon Stanley of Dearborn Heights as Tim. Their semi-famous rocker friend, Pony, is portrayed by Tim Beson of Riverview. Lila Ghaddar of Dearborn plays Sooze, Jeff’s girlfriend, and Sooze’s best friend Bee Bee is played by Monique Tokar of Dearborn. Kyera Allison of Detroit and Chris Braz of Detroit are cast as store owners Pakeesa and Nazeer. Yolanda Aquino of Detroit rounds out the cast as Erica.
