HFCC Musicians Perform Today at Inaugural Ball

Student musicians from Henry Ford Community College's award-winning Big Band and Midnight Blue vocal jazz group are asking the community to help send them to the nation's inaugural ball.  The two groups have been invited to be the main acts for the Michigan Gala at the 2005 Presidential Inauguration on Thursday, Jan. 20.  Now, all the 34 students need is $12,000 to help defray their travel and hotel expenses.

To make a donation contact Rick Goward, associate dean of the HFCC Fine Arts and Fitness Division and director of bands  313-845-6470.

This is the second time the HFCC musicians have been asked to play for the Presidential Inaugural.  They performed for the Michigan Gala as a side act in 2001.  HFCC has the largest two-year college music program in Michigan.
