The Writing Center reopens for the Fall 2025 semester
Make an appointment at the Writing Center
The Writing Center, which reopens Tuesday, September 2, has a new home. It has moved to Room A-201 in the Learning Lab, on the second floor of the Learning Success Center (LSC) (Building A on the main campus). This is the former location of the Bone Room, which has relocated to A-200D.
The second floor of the LSC is a central location for you as a student to get academic support. This includes the Writing Center, the Learning Lab, tutoring in a variety of subject areas, test preparation resources, and a comfortable study space. HFC English instructor Dr. Chelsea Lonsdale is director of the Writing Center.
“I’m excited about our move to the second floor of Building A,” said Lonsdale. “While the Writing Center remains part of the English department organizationally, relocating to a room within the Learning Lab felt like the right move because it allows us to create a centralized location for students to find academic support. We loved our time in the Eshleman Library, and we collaborated quite a bit with our faculty librarians, but we really began to outgrow the space. When the Henry Ford Early College left Building A, we thought it was a good opportunity to reimagine how the Writing Center fits as an academic resource within the campus community.”
