After a nationwide search, Tiffany Webster has been promoted to HFC Assistant Director of Total Rewards at HFC.

“I have always been an informal leader, but I’m a point in my career where I felt the next logical step was that of a formal leadership role,” said Webster, of Novi, who previously served as the HFC Benefits Manager. “I was appointed to attend the Academy of Leadership and Development in 2023. I found it rewarding and a great learning experience. I had the benefit of working with and learning the institutional history of the College from (long-time HFC employee, now retired) Lynn Borczon, and I cherish those valuable memories.”

“Enthusiasm, knowledge, experience, and commitment”

Webster reports to HFC Executive Director of Human Resources Dr. Lisa Bradley. Her duties include:

  • All compensation analyses and placement across HFC’s unions
  • Overseeing benefit enrollment and benefit offerings
  • Working with stakeholders across the College (union leaders, deans, directors)

“It is always a thrill to promote from within an organization and team, and I am excited to work with Tiffany in her new role to support her vision for compensation and benefits at HFC,” said Bradley. "Our recruitment for a new Assistant Director of Total Rewards required an extended search. During that time, Tiffany took on expanded responsibility for several aspects of compensation. Doing so required her to learn and execute new functions and processes, while also maintaining accountability for her role as HFC Benefits Manager. I am convinced that Tiffany's enthusiasm, knowledge, experience, and commitment make her the right person for the role.”

The youngest of two daughters, Webster earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Oakland University. From there, she earned her MBA with a concentration in human resource management from Baker College of Auburn Hills. Webster also earned her K-12 teaching certification and completed additional graduate coursework at Wayne State University.

Webster has worked in HR for nearly 18 years. She began her career in the automotive industry, in HR at General Motors. After getting laid off, Webster became a special education teacher. She taught in the Detroit Public Schools Community District, Oak Park City School District, and Northville Public Schools. After 11 years of teaching, Webster realized HR was her true calling and returned to the field, working for Ryder System, Inc. for two years and for U.S. Ecology (later acquired by Republic Services) for two years. She joined HFC in 2018. She feels more at home in an academic setting, as it’s not as rigid and structured as the corporate sector.

Visible in the HFC community

One of the best parts of her job is meeting people. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Webster had planned to walk around the campus and introduce herself to fellow HFC employees, letting them know HR has an open-door policy and she’s available to assist them in any way possible. Now that the campus has long since reopened and the weather is nicer, Webster says she'll be out and about more.

“I want to be more visible, so I will see you all around campus,” she said. “If you can’t come to me, I’ll come to you.”
